Please share a memory of J.D. "Jack" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
J. D. “Jack” Franklin passed away peacefully at his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Jones, Louisiana, Jack was one of the four children of Dora and Joe Franklin. In his reminiscing, he would relate how, as a child, he enjoyed helping with work on the family farm and swimming in the bayou with relatives and friends. Later, he savored trips to South Padre in Texas and being by the water. These were happy memories. Jack joined the U. S. Navy at an early age serving for approximately 10 years aboard 3 separate ships. Two of those years, he was stationed in the Philippines where he grew a great fondness for the island country. While in the Navy, he learned what would be his life-long trade, air conditioning and heating. After leaving the service, he was employed by large HVAC companies. In 1978, Jack was able to start his own business, Franklin Air & Heating. He worked diligently and managed the company for as long as his health allowed. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa, parents, brother, Bobby, and sisters, Ernestine and Jo. In addition to his daughters, Kim and Cheryl, and son, Jeremy and his wife, Elke, Jack is survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many friends and nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Cathy Jones, with Destiny Home Care.
